(2019): Respekterleben bei Menschen mit und ohne Behinderung. Ein lerntheoretischer Ansatz. Wiesbaden, Germany: Springer VS

DOI: 10.1007/s00391-017-1346-8
DOI: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29218400 Abstract: BACKGROUND It has been questioned by researchers in robotics as well in the general public to what extent companion-type robots can support the elderly with the fulfillment of their psychological and social needs. Although these robots have already been used in care settings in Germany, research has referred little to this practical experience in order to analyze their impact and benefit. To start to close this gap, the current article reports on the current use of companion-type robots in care settings, on the effects reported by professional caregivers as well as on the role of psychosocial needs in the acceptance and use of companion-type robots by the elderly. MATERIAL AND METHODS In the first study, 30 professional caregivers with experience in the use of the robot seal Paro in care settings were interviewed regarding Paro's application and the observed effects on their clients. In the second study, three case examples are presented from an interaction study in which vulnerable elderly persons had the robot dinosaur Pleo at their disposal for a maximum period of 15 days. RESULTS Paro is used very flexibly in a variety of settings and with a broad range of user groups (study 1). The reported psychosocial effects were mainly positive but short term. The case examples (study 2) show that psychosocial needs can both foster or hinder robot acceptance and use. They also emphasize the important role of caregivers in the interaction between the elderly and emotional robots in the context of eldercare. CONCLUSION The beneficial and ethical use of companion-type robots in care settings demands a high commitment on the part of the caregivers. Given this prerequisite, emotional robots can be a valuable therapeutic tool.

(2017): Ethical leadership and pro-social rule breaking. A dual process model. In: Acta Psychologica Sinica 49 (1). DOI: 10.3724/SP.J.1041.2017.00106
DOI: https://doi.org/10.3724/SP.J.1041.2017.00106 Abstract: Pro-social rule breaking (PSRB), as one form of constructive deviance, is receiving increasing attention from researchers, yet surprisingly our knowledge of the antecedents of PSRB is fairly limited. Although the effects of personal traits on PSRB are well discussed in the literature, we know little about how contextual factors in the work environment, such as leadership style, shape PSRB. The current study aims to address this research gap by examining the relationship between ethical leadership and PSRB. Specifically, drawing from the social information processing theory, we propose a dual process model that ethical leadership enhances employees' PSRB via psychological safety and job autonomy. We further investigate the moderating effect of employees' risk taking propensity in the model. The participants were recruited from four organizations in three cities of China (i.e., Beijing, Shanghai, and Dalian). The data was collected at two time points to avoid the common met hod bias . At Time 1, ethical leadership, psychological safety, job autonomy, and risk taking propensity were measured. At Time 2, that is, one month later, participants' PSRB behavior was assessed. The final sample size was 241. We used SPSS 22.0 and Mplus 6.12 to analyse the data. First, we assessed the discriminant validity of the key variables through a series of confirmatory factor analyses (CPAs) and examined the common method variance. Afterwards, we used the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and bias-corrected bootstrap to test our hypotheses. The results showed a significantly positive relationship between ethical leadership and PSRB, and the relationship was mediated by psychological safety and job autonomy. Furthermore, individual risk taking propensity moderated the relationship between job autonomy and PSRB, such that the positive relationship was stronger for those employees with higher, rather than lower, levels of risk taking propensity. Our study contributes to the PSRB lit erature in several ways. Frist, we investigate the effects of ethical leadership on employees' PSRB, which broadens our understanding of how contextual factors influences PSRB. Second, we reveal the theoretical black-box of why ethical leadership facilitates PSRB by identifying psychological safety and job autonomy as two underlying mechanisms. Finally, we extend the ethical leadership and PSRB research by demonstrating risk taking propensity as a crucial contingency that moderates the effects of ethical leadership and job autonomy on PSRB. In: Pflege & Gesellschaft 20 (1)

(2012): Moral professionalism in interaction. Educators’ relational moral voices in urban schools. In: Journal of Moral Education 41 (1), S. 143-145. DOI: 10.1080/03057240.2012.661551
DOI: https://doi.org/10.1080/03057240.2012.661551 Abstract: Reviews the book, Moral Professionalism in Interaction: Educators’ Relational Moral Voices in Urban Schools by Eija Hanhimäki (2011). The main aim of the study presented in this book is to explore principals’ relational moral voices, their moral professionalism, and moral practices in four urban schools in Finland. Another main aim is to examine teachers’ voices in these schools as they identify critical incidents in their work that produce ethical reflection and moral emotions. After a brief introduction the book begins with a literature review on moral professionalism in education. It includes subchapters on moral and professional dimensions in education, professional ethics and the practice of education in schools, leadership and principals in urban schools, and educators’ moral professionalism as reflected in narratives. The important role of educators as moral professionals is made explicit. This book makes an important contribution as it draws attention to the impo rtance of moral professionalism in interactions at school. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
