    Abstract: Any system is most flexible while being built. Human brains under construction are designed to rapidly adapt to the family setting. Babies have no comparisons, and the quality of relationships is the prime component of their world. For the first years of life parents lend their brains to their child, sliding their unconscious into this growing mind. ‘From a basic biological perspective, the child’s neuronal system—the structure and functioning of the developing brain—is shaped by the parent’s more mature brain.
