(1961): The Concept of Law. Second Edition. Oxford: Clarendon Press
Abstract: H L A Hart's The Concept of Law is the classic text for the study of jurisprudence and legal philosophy and is probably the most important work of legal philosophy written this century. This second edition is particularly valuable as it combines Hart's original text with a postscript, in which he responds to criticisms of his theory levelled by such notable scholars as Dworkin, Fuller and Finnis. Written by him but only discovered after his death, it has been ably edited by Joseph Raz and Penelope Bulloch of Balliol College, Oxford.

Abstract: It was Mr Perry himself who more than anyone else insisted that the validity of a "general theory of value" could be evidenced only by its fecundity of value. So any demonstration that "interest-theory" does not, in Perry's phrase, "fit the data" of some area of value-experience would be, on his own showing, highly damaging. Just this has been argued, most conspicuously by Philip Blair Rice who says that "...an interest theory has seemed to be adequate only because so little attention has been given by general theory of value to aesthetic value." This charge is renewed by Pice in the recent symposium on value-theory, where it is also voiced by Aiken and Lee, all of whom, be it noted, speak with considerable authority in the filed of aesthetics.

DOI: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/13177800 Abstract: Through the use of the critical incident technique one may collect specific and significant behavioral facts, providing "… a sound basis for making inferences as to requirements… " for measures of typical performance (criteria), measures of proficiency (standard samples), training, selection and classification, job design and purification, operating procedures, equipment design, motivation and leadership (attitudes), and counseling and psychotherapy. The development, fundamental principles, present status, and uses of the critical incident technique are discussed, along with a review of studies employing the technique and suggestions for further applications.

Abstract: Elaborates a theory concerning the conditions under which public compliance with and without private acceptance is obtained. Public compliance without private acceptance will occur if the person is restrained from leaving the situation by threat of punishment for noncompliance. Compliance with private acceptance occurs if the individual desires to remain in the relationship with those influencing him.
