(2018): Fair is foul, and foul is fair. Experimental evolutionary studies of mismatch. In: Journal of Bioeconomics 20 (1), S. 153-157. DOI: 10.1007/s10818-017-9266-7
Abstract: We describe two types of experimental evolution studies of 'mismatch' that are relevant to economics. 'Evolutionary mismatch' is the concept that an organism can be importantly 'out of sync' with its environment. In such cases, an organism may choose an option that is inferior to a feasible alternative. Mainstream and behavioral economics do not address the notion of evolutionary mismatch. We argue for an empirical program on mismatch utilizing the methodology of experimental evolution. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2018 APA, all rights reserved)

(2017): Cultural evolutionary theory. How culture evolves and why it matters. In: Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, S. 7782-7789. DOI: 10.1073/pnas.1620732114
DOI: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28739941 Abstract: Human cultural traits-behaviors, ideas, and technologies that can be learned from other individuals-can exhibit complex patterns of transmission and evolution, and researchers have developed theoretical models, both verbal and mathematical, to facilitate our understanding of these patterns. Many of the first quantitative models of cultural evolution were modified from existing concepts in theoretical population genetics because cultural evolution has many parallels with, as well as clear differences from, genetic evolution. Furthermore, cultural and genetic evolution can interact with one another and influence both transmission and selection. This interaction requires theoretical treatments of gene-culture coevolution and dual inheritance, in addition to purely cultural evolution. In addition, cultural evolutionary theory is a natural component of studies in demography, human ecology, and many other disciplines. Here, we review the core concepts in cultural evolutionary theory as they pertain to the extension of biology through culture, focusing on cultural evolutionary applications in population genetics, ecology, and demography. For each of these disciplines, we review the theoretical literature and highlight relevant empirical studies. We also discuss the societal implications of the study of cultural evolution and of the interactions of humans with one another and with their environment. zitiert von 13

(2017): The Evolutionary Mismatch Hypothesis. Implications for Psychological Science. In: Current Directions in Psychological Science 27 (1), S. 38-44. DOI: 10.1177/0963721417731378
Abstract: Human psychological mechanisms are adaptations that evolved to process environmental inputs, turning them into behavioral outputs that, on average, increase survival or reproductive prospects. Modern contexts, however, differ vastly from the environments that existed as human psychological mechanisms evolved. Many inputs now differ in quantity and intensity or no longer have the same fitness associations, thereby leading many mechanisms to produce maladaptive output. We present the precepts of this evolutionary mismatch process, highlight areas of mismatch, and consider implications for psychological science and policy. (2015) : Socialization and Education. Theoretical Perspectives In: Wright, James D.: International Encyclopedia of the Social & Behavioral Sciences (Second Edition): Oxford: Elsevier, S. 861-865
Abstract: In this article, first, four perspectives in studying the processes of socialization and education, that is, chronological, topical, institutional, and cultural points of view, are briefly addressed. Then, three major groups of theories, namely biological theories (sociobiology and evolutionary psychology), psychological theories (psychoanalytic, attachment, epigenetic, and learning theories), and sociological theories (structural functionalism, symbolic interactionism, and conflict theories), are described in greater detail. Finally, an integrative framework for studying socialization and education is offered based on five aspects: units of environmental influence, characteristics of individuals, proximal processes, goals and values, and self-socialization. zitiert von 20

(2004): Was ist machiavellische Intelligenz? Betrachtungen über eine wenig beachtete Seite unserer Psyche. In: Der Nervenarzt 75 (1), S. 1-5. DOI: 10.1007/s00115-003-1543-0
